Japanese manga artist born November 3, 1928, died January 5, 2000. He is best known for Lone Wolf and Cub, a collaboration with writer Kazuo Koike serialized from 1970 to 1976 in Weekly Manga Action and collected in 28 volumes. The series is widely regarded as one of the most significant works in manga history. He and Koike were inducted into the Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2004.
