Takao Yaguchi was a Japanese manga artist known for creating ecologically themed adventure stories. His most celebrated work, Tsurikichi Sanpei, followed a young fisherman through rural Japan and ran in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from 1973 to 1983, spanning 65 volumes and winning the Kodansha Children's Manga Award in 1974. A museum dedicated to his work was established in Yokote, Akita Prefecture.
