Weekly Shonen Magazine (1959)
Description
Weekly Shōnen Magazine is a Japanese shōnen manga anthology published by Kodansha, first released on 17 March 1959. It was the first weekly manga magazine in Japan, appearing the same week as its rival Weekly Shōnen Sunday.
Each issue runs several serialized manga aimed at a teenage male readership, with chapters later gathered into standalone book volumes. Across the decades its lineup of sports and action titles helped shape the modern shōnen format.
The magazine comes out on Wednesdays and ranks among the longest-running and best selling manga periodicals in Japan.
