Tsutomu Nihei is a Japanese manga artist known for large-scale cyberpunk science fiction. He debuted with Blame!, a nearly wordless series set within a vast megastructure, which ran in Monthly Afternoon beginning in 1997. His subsequent series Knights of Sidonia launched in Afternoon in 2009 and won the Kodansha Manga Award in 2015. Nihei received the Inkpot Award at San Diego Comic-Con in 2016.
