Japanese manga artist born in Chiba. He launched You're Under Arrest! in 1986, a police comedy that spawned several anime adaptations. Two years later he created Oh My Goddess!, which ran in Afternoon magazine for over two decades and became a defining romantic comedy manga of its era. He has also worked as a character designer for video game series including Tales and Sakura Wars.
