Usagi Yojimbo: Kaito '84 (2026)

A five-issue Usagi Yojimbo miniseries from Dark Horse, marking the first Usagi project not written by creator Stan Sakai since the character's 1984 debut. Written by Zack Rosenberg with full watercolor art and hand-lettering by Jared Cullum, the book jumps the franchise forward to 1984 Osaka.

The rabbit ronin's bloodline carries on through Kaitō, a cunning rabbit thief with a rebellious streak. Sakai contributes covers alongside variants from Jim Rugg, Kevin Eastman, David Petersen, and Daniel Warren Johnson, framing the project as a sanctioned look at a 20th-century descendant of Miyamoto Usagi.
