Superior (2010)

Simon Pooni was a promising young basketball player in New York until multiple sclerosis left him in a wheelchair, cutting him off from most of his friends. His only real companion is Chris, his former teammate, with whom he retreats into superhero movies and comics.

The two boys idolize Superior, a fictional hero played in films by actor Tad Scott. One night, a mysterious visitor appears: Ormon, a talking monkey in an astronaut suit, who offers Simon a single wish.

Simon transforms into the physical form of Superior, gaining flight, super-strength, invulnerability, and super-speed. Written by Mark Millar with art by Leinil Francis Yu, the series ran for seven issues under Marvel's Icon imprint from October 2010 to January 2012.
