Description

The opening chapter introduces Marcus Wesphal, a man whose rare narcolepsy sends him into sudden blackouts whenever his emotions run high. He has built a quiet, homebound life around the condition, including a distant fascination with the woman living next door.

That careful routine breaks when he witnesses her murder and loses consciousness at the critical moment. Marcus wakes to discover that the police see him as their prime suspect, which forces him to step outside his controlled world to chase the truth.
