This opening issue catches up with Alice years after her original trip through the looking glass. She now lives in Victorian London, quietly raising her young daughter Evelyn and privately writing a memoir about what happened to her in Wonderland.
That manuscript threatens to expose her estranged father's business dealings, giving him reason to want it stopped. Meanwhile Wonderland has fallen into decay, and a resentful Cheshire Cat searches for something to repair it, setting his sights on Evelyn rather than Alice. As the Caterpillar slips into the real world to pursue his own agenda, Alice starts to sense her past encroaching on the life she built.
