Future State: Swamp Thing (2021)
Part of DC's line wide Future State event, this two issue limited series imagines a distant future where humanity has all but vanished. It comes from Ram V and Mike Perkins, the creative team who went on to build the ongoing The Swamp Thing that followed.
Swamp Thing now leads a race of plant beings across a changed world, presenting himself as their Green Father. Their fragile way of life is tested when signs of surviving humans appear and an old enemy's doomsday plan threatens the Green itself. Perkins brings a textured, naturalistic style to the overgrown landscape.
Published by DC Comics in 2021, the run set up Ram V and Perkins's longer Swamp Thing story.
