Gay Comics (1944)
SeriesDescription
A Timely comedy anthology that grew out of Joker Comics, using the word gay in its old sense of lighthearted fun. Tessie the Typist led the lineup, joined by Basil Wolverton's Powerhouse Pepper and a rotating cast of comic characters. Wartime gags and screwball office and street antics filled its pages through the late 1940s.
