Secret Wars II (1985)
Secret Wars II is a nine-issue limited series published by Marvel from 1985 to 1986, written by Jim Shooter with art by Al Milgrom. It follows the Beyonder, the near-omnipotent being introduced in the original Secret Wars, as he comes to Earth in human form to understand what it means to be human.
Driven by curiosity about desire, love, morality, and mortality, the Beyonder moves among ordinary people and Earth's heroes alike, and his experiments with unlimited power carry escalating consequences. The Molecule Man, one of the few who can stand as his equal, is drawn into the fallout.
The series ran as a line-wide crossover, with tie-in chapters reaching into most of Marvel's ongoing titles of the era. It remains one of the most ambitious cosmic stories of Marvel's 1980s output.
