Roots of Madness (2025)

Etta Knight has inherited her late mother's book of recipes, herbal formulas, and cryptic symbols she cannot yet decipher. It is 1905, and Etta is determined to develop safe alternatives to the toxic hair-straightening products marketed to Black women, continuing a tradition of natural medicine passed down through her family.

Her work draws the attention of the Meridian Fellowship, who invite her to their institute in Savannah, Georgia. On campus, Etta discovers a secret society and natural phenomena that may illuminate the darker passages in her mother's writings, if she survives what guards them.

Inspired by the life of Madam C.J. Walker, the series is written by Stephanie Williams with art by Letizia Cadonici and colors by Alessandro Santoro. It blends early 20th-century alternate history with cosmic horror.
