Jersey Devil (1992)
Tony DiGerolamo's first comic book series, self-published through his own South Jersey Rebellion Productions. J.D. is a mysterious hermit living in the Pine Barrens who battles horrors across the Garden State, convinced he is the legendary creature of the title. Drawing on the roughly 300-year-old Jersey Devil legend and reporting from the South Jersey Courier-Post, the series mixes regional folklore with crime and horror: toxic-waste dumpers, street gangs, the ghost of a pirate haunting the Pines, and the spirits of Revolutionary War bandit Joe Mulliner and his Refugees. Black and white, 32 pages, mature readers.
