Description
Blackest Night is a 2009 to 2010 DC Comics crossover event by writer Geoff Johns and artist Ivan Reis, centered on the Green Lantern Corps. The dead of the DC Universe rise as the Black Lantern Corps, reanimated by black power rings under the command of Nekron, a personification of death intent on extinguishing all life and emotion. Hal Jordan leads Earth's heroes and the ring-wielding Corps of every color of the emotional spectrum against an army built from their fallen friends and enemies. As the war spreads from Coast City to Oa, the survivors forge an unprecedented alliance across the Green, Yellow, Blue, Red, Orange, Indigo, and Star Sapphire Corps, and the White Light of life itself is drawn into the battle. The central eight-issue miniseries anchored tie-ins across the DC line and paid off years of Johns' Green Lantern storytelling, and it remains one of DC's most influential modern events.
