DESCRIPTION
Published between 2006 and 2007 by Marvel Comics, 'Annihilation' was a significant crossover event in the Marvel Universe. Written by Keith Giffen with contributions from writers such as Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, and featuring art by Andrea Di Vito among others, the storyline spanned multiple series and focused on the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe. The plot centers around the Annihilation Wave, a massive destructive force led by Annihilus from the Negative Zone, which threatens to consume the universe. Key characters include Nova (Richard Rider), Silver Surfer, Drax the Destroyer, and Ronan the Accuser, who unite to combat this existential threat. The event had major repercussions for the Marvel cosmic landscape, leading to the formation of the modern Guardians of the Galaxy. The storyline was critically acclaimed for revitalizing Marvel's cosmic characters and was collected in several trade paperbacks. It consisted of a prologue, a six-issue main series, and several tie-in mini-series, including 'Annihilation: Nova', 'Annihilation: Silver Surfer', and 'Annihilation: Ronan'.
