Getting Started with Imports

Moving your comic collection to VerseDB is straightforward. Whether you're coming from League of Comic Geeks, CLZ Comics, ComicRack, or have a spreadsheet of your own, VerseDB can import your data.

Quick Summary
  • Import collections, read history, pull lists, wishlists, and followed series
  • Supports League of Comic Geeks, CLZ Comics, ComicRack, and generic CSV
  • One active import at a time
  • Files expire after 7 days

How Imports Work

Every import follows these steps:

  1. Upload — Select your import type, source, and upload your file (CSV, XLS, or XLSX up to 10MB)
  2. Map Headers — Match your file's columns to VerseDB fields. We auto-detect common headers, but you can adjust the mappings.
  3. Processing — VerseDB parses your file and matches each row to comics in the database
  4. Review — Check matched items and manually match any that couldn't be found automatically. You can search by series and issue number.
  5. Resolve Conflicts — If updating existing items, choose which values to keep when there are differences
  6. Import — Confirm and your data is added to VerseDB
Tip
Use VerseDB IDs (`vdb_id`) or ComicVine IDs (`cv_id`) in your CSV for the most accurate matching. These provide exact matches and skip fuzzy searching.

Duplicate Handling

When importing, you can choose how to handle items that already exist:

  • Skip — Ignore items that already exist in your collection (default)
  • Update — Overwrite existing items with the imported data. You'll review any conflicts before confirming.

File Requirements

  • Formats: CSV, XLS, XLSX
  • Max size: 10 MB
  • Expiration: Import files are deleted after 7 days
Warning
You can only have one active import at a time. Complete or cancel your current import before starting a new one.
