A blond prizefighter in the good-hearted, hard-punching mold of Joe Palooka. Curly Kayoe grew out of the newspaper strip Joe Jinks, which Sam Leff took over from Vic Forsythe in 1944 with his brother Mo on pencils, and on the last day of 1945 the strip was renamed for its boxer.
