Hopalong Cassidy
CharacterDescription
Hopalong Cassidy is a Western cowboy character created by novelist Clarence Mulford in 1904, originally portrayed as a rough-edged ranch hand who walked with a limp from a gunshot wound. Actor William Boyd transformed him into a clean-cut hero across sixty-six films and a television series between 1935 and 1952. Fawcett Comics published a Hopalong Cassidy comic series beginning in 1942, with the license later acquired by DC Comics in 1954 following Fawcett's exit from the comics industry.
