Alura-El is a Kryptonian and a native of Argo City, the wife of the scientist Zor-El and the mother of Kara Zor-El, who becomes Supergirl on Earth. As Krypton faced its end, she and Zor-El sent their daughter away to safety.
Created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino, Alura debuted in the Silver Age as part of Supergirl's Kryptonian family. She is best known as the parent who entrusted Kara to the care of her cousin, Kal-El.
