Mera is a royal from the extradimensional oceanic realm of Xebel and the queen of Atlantis, created by Jack Miller and Nick Cardy and first appearing in Aquaman #11 in September 1963. Originally sent to assassinate Aquaman, she instead fell in love with him and became his partner and wife. She possesses natural hydrokinetic abilities and has become an increasingly central figure in DC's Aquaman mythology across decades of comics.
