Ar-Ual, a Kryptonian woman, had been sentenced to fifty years in the Phantom Zone. She escaped when an alien space warship exploded and the blast ripped a hole in the Phantom Zone. She came to Earth and used her superpowers to take Wonder Woman's place. Her goal was to become Superman's wife and the secret ruler of the crime world.
