Freckles is the teenage lead of the newspaper strip Freckles and His Friends, created by Merrill Blosser and published from 1915. It followed him from childhood into high school, shifting from gag-a-day humor into adventure and romance. The strip ran until 1971, latterly drawn by Henry Formhals.
