Stan Laurel is the on-screen persona of English comedian Arthur Stanley Jefferson, the thinner and more guileless half of the Laurel and Hardy comedy duo. In comics adaptations published by Dell and other publishers, he is portrayed as the well-meaning but bumbling partner whose cheerful ineptitude consistently undoes whatever plans the duo attempts. The Laurel and Hardy duo dominated film comedy throughout the 1930s and 1940s before their characters transferred to comic format.
