Description
Oliver Hardy is the on-screen persona of American comedian Oliver Norvell Hardy, the heavier and more self-important half of the Laurel and Hardy comedy duo. In comics adaptations, he is portrayed as the pompous partner whose grand ambitions are perpetually undermined by the cheerful incompetence of Stan Laurel. The duo's partnership produced some of the most celebrated comedies of the 1930s and 1940s, and their screen characters were adapted for comics by multiple publishers.
