Named Jumbo Jr. by his mother, Dumbo is a young circus elephant introduced in the 1939 book Dumbo the Flying Elephant and popularized by Disney's 1941 animated film. Oversized ears make him a target of ridicule until he learns they let him glide. His mentor is Timothy Q. Mouse.
