Hideaki Sorachi is a Japanese manga artist from Hokkaido, best known for Gintama, a science fiction comedy set in a fictionalized Edo-period Japan. Gintama was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2003 to 2019 and sold over 55 million copies in Japan. Sorachi won the Tenkaichi Honourable Mention Manga Award in 2002 for the one-shot Dandelion, which preceded his launch of Gintama as his debut serialization.
