Naoki Urasawa is a Japanese manga artist who studied economics before entering the comics industry. He is known for complex, long-form thriller and mystery manga including Monster, which ran from 1994 to 2001 and brought him international recognition, and 20th Century Boys, published from 1999 to 2006. Urasawa has received the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, multiple Shogakukan Manga Awards, and the Fauve Special Award at the Angoulême International Comics Festival.
