Japanese manga artist born in Fukuoka in 1958, known for car and motorcycle action manga. He won a Weekly Shonen Jump newcomer award in 1977 and landed his first serialization there in 1980 with Boso Hunter. His 1982 racing series Yoroshiku Mecha-Doc became his most popular work, drawing devoted followings among car enthusiasts and spawning an anime adaptation. Tsugihara also teaches younger manga artists and has served as a judge for the Silent Manga Audition competition.
