Japanese manga artist born in Kashiwazaki, Niigata Prefecture, who debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1980 with Sannen Kimengumi. He is best known for High School! Kimengumi, a humor series that ran from 1982 to 1987 and was adapted into an anime that aired on Fuji TV beginning in 1985. The anime also received a theatrical film release in 1986.
