Yōichi Takahashi is a Japanese manga artist known primarily for Captain Tsubasa, a soccer manga serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1981 to 1988. The series was adapted into multiple anime and has been credited with inspiring professional soccer players worldwide, including Zinedine Zidane and Lionel Messi. Takahashi continued writing sequels to Captain Tsubasa until his retirement from serialization in 2024.
