BIOGRAPHY

Alan Moore is a British comic book writer, novelist, magician, and outspoken critic of the mainstream comics industry. Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential writers in the medium, Moore is best known for bringing literary depth, complex characters, and political commentary into comic books.

He revolutionized storytelling in comics with works that explored mature and philosophical themes. His most acclaimed creations and contributions include:

  • Watchmen – A deconstruction of the superhero genre
  • The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen – A mashup of literary characters in a steampunk universe
  • V for Vendetta – A dystopian thriller centered on anarchism and identity
  • Promethea – A metaphysical and magical journey through storytelling and myth
  • Batman: The Killing Joke – One of the most iconic Batman and Joker stories ever told
  • Swamp Thing – Redefined the character and broke genre expectations

Moore is known for his deeply philosophical approach to storytelling and his rejection of corporate control over creators' rights. He famously distanced himself from film adaptations of his work, including Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, refusing any association or royalties.

Outside of comics, Moore has written novels (Jerusalem, Voice of the Fire) and practices ceremonial magic, incorporating mysticism into both his life and art.
