Mitsutoshi Furuya was a Japanese manga artist, born August 11, 1936, who began assisting Osamu Tezuka before working closely with Fujio Akatsuka. He is best known for Dame Oyaji, a darkly comic series about Japanese family life that ran from 1970 to 1982 and received the Shogakukan Manga Award in 1979. The series was adapted into both a film and a television anime in the 1970s. His long-running series Bar Lemon Heart continued for over 35 years before his death in 2021.
