American comic book and Big Little Books writer (1899-1993) who scripted for Dell and Gold Key Comics for decades, best known for writing Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptations including Tarzan of the Apes from 1946 to 1971, as well as Korak Son of Tarzan, The Lone Ranger, and Space Family Robinson. One of the most prolific writers of the era with over 3,000 comics stories to his credit, he had a particular affinity for westerns and jungle adventure.
