Back Issue (2003)
Back Issue is a nonfiction magazine published by TwoMorrows Publishing that launched in 2003. It picked up where Comic Book Artist left off, focusing on comic book history from the Bronze Age through the Modern Age.
Each themed issue gathers interviews, retrospectives, and behind the scenes features on the creators, characters, and storylines that shaped mainstream comics. Contributors research original art, unpublished material, and firsthand accounts from the people who made the books.
Michael Eury edited the magazine from its 2003 launch through 2024, when Roger Ash took over as editor. The magazine publishes eight issues a year and won a shared Eisner Award for Best Comics-Related Periodical or Journalism in 2019.
Back Issue remains in active publication, continuing to document the people and stories behind vintage and modern era comic books for collectors and historians.
