Norman Osborn, revealed to have received madness rather than power from the Gathering of Five, attacks the Daily Bugle as the Green Goblin with delusions of having killed Spider-Man. When a pumpkin bomb brings the building down, Spider-Man holds the structure up alone until everyone inside escapes. Osborn is found raving in a straitjacket and taken away by the Cabal of Scriers, the 98-issue run ending with Peter Parker's status quo stripped down for the relaunch. Written by Howard Mackie, art by John Romita Jr. and John Byrne.
