Description

The premiere issue of Le Journal de Spirou, published April 21, 1938 by Dupuis from Marcinelle, Belgium. This first number introduced Spirou, a hotel bellboy created by Rob-Vel, who became both the magazine's mascot and its namesake character. Alongside the Spirou strip, the issue carried installments of Chester Gould's Dick Tracy, Fernand Dineur's Tif, and adventure strips contributed by other creators.
