Title character of the long-running Franco-Belgian series published by Dupuis, Spirou was created by artist Rob-Vel for the launch of Le Journal de Spirou magazine on April 21, 1938. First drawn as a hotel bellboy, he became an adventurous journalist travelling with his companion Fantasio.
