DESCRIPTION
Published from 2005 to 2006, 'Infinite Crisis' was a major crossover event by DC Comics, written by Geoff Johns with art by Phil Jimenez, George Pérez, Ivan Reis, and Jerry Ordway. The storyline served as a sequel to the 1985 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' and was pivotal in reshaping the DC Universe. The plot centered around the return of characters from the pre-Crisis multiverse, including Superman of Earth-2, Lois Lane of Earth-2, Alexander Luthor Jr. of Earth-3, and Superboy-Prime. These characters, disillusioned with the current state of the DC Universe, sought to create a perfect world by merging realities, leading to catastrophic events. Key characters included Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Justice League, facing off against the returning multiverse characters and other villains. The series had significant consequences, including the destruction of the Watchtower, the death of several characters, and the eventual restoration of the multiverse concept. 'Infinite Crisis' was critically acclaimed for its ambitious scope and impact on DC continuity, leading to the '52' series that explored the aftermath. The event spanned seven main issues and numerous tie-in series, affecting the entire DC Comics line.
