The plot unfolds as the satellite is hijacked by Maxwell Lord, the leader of the secret organization Checkmate, who uses it to control the OMACs and target metahumans. Key characters include Batman, Wonder Woman, and Maxwell Lord. A significant turning point occurs when Wonder Woman kills Maxwell Lord to stop his control over Superman, an act that has lasting repercussions in the DC Universe. The series was published under the DC Comics imprint and consists of six issues, with tie-ins across various other titles. 'The OMAC Project' was critically acclaimed for its exploration of themes like surveillance, control, and the ethical dilemmas faced by superheroes.
