The Atomics

The Atomics are a superhero team created by Mike Allred for AAA Pop Comics, operating out of the fictional Snap City. The team originated as a group of street beatniks who stumbled onto an alien spore left by Zenelle, an alien seeking a mate on Earth, and the exposure transformed the group into powered, oddly warty superhumans. The roster includes leader Madman -- Allred's signature character -- alongside teammates like It Girl, Mr. Gum, Zap Man, Lava Lass, Adam Balm, Black Crystal, and The Lazer, each with a distinct power set drawn from their shared mutation. Steeped in Allred's pop-art visual style and retro-futurist tone, the Atomics blend earnest superheroics with the same offbeat humor that defines the wider Madman universe.
