Creature Commandos
The Creature Commandos are a covert DC Comics military unit made up of monsters and other strange beings. Created by J.M. DeMatteis and Pat Broderick, the squad debuted in Weird War Tales during the World War II era, operating under the secret government program Project M. Its classic roster paired a human officer with a vampire, a werewolf, a gorgon, and a Frankenstein-like soldier. The team takes on missions considered too dangerous or too bizarre for ordinary troops. Later versions carried the concept into the modern DC Universe, including a New 52 unit led by Frankenstein for the agency S.H.A.D.E. The team is the basis for the DC Studios animated series.
