Amazing Friends
Amazing Friends is the trio of Spider-Man, Iceman, and Firestar, introduced together in the 1981 animated series Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and later folded into Marvel's main comics continuity. As Peter Parker, Bobby Drake, and Angelica Jones, the three live together as college students at Empire State University alongside Peter's Aunt May, balancing school life with superhero duty as an informal, tight-knit crime-fighting unit. Firestar was created for the show as a mutant substitute for the Human Torch after a rights conflict prevented Marvel from using him, and her popularity carried her into the wider Marvel Universe as an original character in her own right. The team has been periodically revived in comics -- including a dedicated anniversary one-shot and later specials -- trading on the same easy camaraderie that defined the original series.
