Tom Mix was a real silent-era Western film star. The comics version is the clean-living, trick-riding cowboy of the Ralston Straight Shooters radio serial, riding his horse Tony. Ralston-Purina mailed his first comic book to children for box tops in 1940, and Fawcett later ran Tom Mix Western.
