Karen Beecher is Bumblebee, widely counted as DC's first African American superheroine. A scientist and girlfriend of Titans member Mal Duncan, she built a bee-themed battlesuit and debuted in Teen Titans #45 in 1976, joining the team soon after.
Her suit provides flight, shrinking in later eras, and electric stingers. She has remained a Titans mainstay and appears widely in DC animation.
