Clayface (Karlo)

Basil Karlo is the original Clayface, a once-celebrated Hollywood character actor who became a costumed murderer after learning that his most famous horror film was to be remade without his involvement. Introduced in Detective Comics #40 in 1940, he wore the mask of the villain from his own film while targeting the cast and crew of the production. In later interpretations, the character gained genuine clay-based shapeshifting abilities and has since shifted between adversary and reluctant ally of Batman.
