Del Connell began his career at Disney Studios in 1939, contributing to animated films including Fantasia and Dumbo. After World War II he transitioned to comics, becoming a writer and editor at Western Publishing's Dell Comics division. He is best known for co-creating Super Goof in 1965 and for originating the comic series Space Family Robinson, a clear inspiration for the television show Lost in Space. He won the Bill Finger Award for Comic Writing in 2011, the year of his death.
