Carl Burgos was an American comic book artist active from the Golden Age of comics through the 1950s. Working for Funnies Inc, he created the original android Human Torch, who debuted in Marvel Comics number 1 in 1939 and went on to headline his own title. He also created the hero White Streak and, with writer John Compton, the villain Thunderer, and later worked as a cover artist for Atlas Comics.
