Takeshi Obata is a Japanese manga artist born in 1969, known primarily as an illustrator who collaborates with writers. He gained industry recognition in 1985 and debuted in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1989. His most celebrated collaborations include Hikaru no Go with Yumi Hotta, which won the Shogakukan Award and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, and Death Note with Tsugumi Ohba, which sold over 30 million copies and was adapted into an anime and multiple live-action films.
