Ron Smith was a British comic artist best known as one of the most prolific artists on 2000 AD's Judge Dredd, drawing the character from 1979 in both the anthology and the Daily Star newspaper strip. Alongside Brian Bolland and Mike McMahon, he contributed to landmark storylines including The Day the Law Died and The Judge Child. He also created recurring Mega-City One characters including Chopper and Dave the orangutan mayor.
